This 5 to 6-hour activity begins with a live in-field workshop where you will work alongside a specialist anti-poaching team to learn the expert skills of finding and removing illegal wire snares – the “silent killers” of the wilderness. After this hands-on field trip, you will be transferred back to the Down to the Wire premises for a quick break to enjoy a hearty packed lunch. The experience then transitions into a creative jewelry-making workshop, where you will be guided through the process of transforming wire snares recovered from the bush into your own unique piece of jewelry to take home. This meaningful journey doesn’t just tell the story of survival; it allows you to play an active role in it, with a shop on-site available to purchase additional jewelry and mementos where all proceeds directly fund emergency medical treatment for snared wildlife.
1) Sturdy closed walking shoes and neutral-coloured bush clothing are mandatory for the field sweep.
2) Due to the nature of working with the specialist anti-poaching team, this experience is recommended for ages 12 and up.
